The four ways to use a number
- A Frontivo.io number in your country. Click Get my phone number on the Phone calls card. In the US, Canada and Puerto Rico it's yours in seconds. In many other countries the regulator wants business documents first (registration, address): the card asks for them, and the number is connected automatically once they're approved, usually in 1-3 business days. In some countries a local number costs more to keep, so it has a monthly local-number fee. If yours does, the exact amount is shown to you first, and the number is only set up once you confirm it. In the few countries where a number costs a lot more to keep, our team confirms the price with you first, usually within 1-3 business days. The table below shows which applies to you.
- Keep your own number and forward its calls. Works in every country - it's a setting from your phone company. Customers keep calling the number they know, and your AI answers the calls you miss. Calls only: phone companies can't forward texts.
- Move your own number to Frontivo.io. Your AI then answers calls and texts on it. Only possible in the countries marked below; US numbers move automatically from the card, the others sign a short form (1-6 weeks).
- WhatsApp on your own number. Works in every country where WhatsApp works. Click Use my existing number on the WhatsApp card - no new number needed.
If your country isn't in the table
Our phone provider doesn't sell numbers there yet. When you click Get my phone number, the card says so and offers a US (+1) number instead - one click, ready in seconds. Your AI answers calls and texts on it, and WhatsApp runs on it too.
Calls forwarded from your own number to a US number are international calls on your phone plan, so check your plan allows forwarding abroad and what a minute costs, and use the Only calls I don't answer code. For most businesses in these countries the best setup is WhatsApp on your own number, website chat, and a US number for customers abroad.
Calls, texts and WhatsApp: what each needs
- Phone calls work in every country. Almost every Frontivo.io number takes calls (the few text-only ones are marked No calling numbers in the table), a US number works anywhere, and forwarding your own number's calls works everywhere.
- Text messages (SMS) depend on the number type. In many countries local numbers take calls only, while mobile numbers text - the table shows which types text in each country, and the card picks a texting number when you want texts. US numbers need a one-time texting approval from the US phone companies first; fill in your business details on the Text messages card and we submit it. Two-way texting works with a number from the customer's own country, and texts to the US and Canada need a US or Canadian number.
- WhatsApp works in every country where WhatsApp itself works - everywhere except China, North Korea, Iran and Syria, where it's blocked. Use it on your own number (no Frontivo.io number needed) or on any Frontivo.io number from the table.
- Website chat, Instagram, Messenger and email don't use a phone number, so they work in every country.
How to read the table
- In seconds: a number in your country, no documents.
- After documents: the card asks for your business registration and address; the number arrives automatically once approved.
- Monthly local-number fee, about ...: a number there costs more to keep, so it has a monthly local-number fee (for keeping the number - not a charge per call). The card shows the exact amount and asks you to confirm before the number is set up.
- Team confirms price (1-3 business days): a number there costs a lot more to keep, so a person on our team checks the price with you by email before setting it up. You get an email when it's ready.
- Number types: local numbers belong to a city or area, mobile and national numbers work country-wide, toll-free numbers are free for callers.
- Phone calls and Text messages: whether a Frontivo.io number from that country can take calls and send and receive texts, and which number types do.
- WhatsApp: whether WhatsApp works there, on your own number or on a Frontivo.io number.
- Move your own number in: whether an existing number from that country can be moved to Frontivo.io.
- Use the filters above the table to show only countries with texts, WhatsApp, a number in seconds, or moving your number in.
